Purpose Statement

This is a portfolio of identity. As we near the end of 2024, I hope this outlet will allow me to feel accomplished and proud of the work I have created. Throughout this semester in Writing For Life, my three core projects and countless journal entries have become a sort of journal of my identity. They have built on each other, each project producing more insight and clarification for the last. Through the combination of these identity-focused pieces, I tell a story about who I am.

Through the use of different formats and colors in each piece, I have separated each defining factor of who I am into an individual and yet comprehensive view. My personal narrative focuses on my sexuality. My autoethnography focuses on my multiracial and multicultural identity. My multimedia essay focuses on a little-known art form through which I have grown into the person I am today. Through reading my portfolio, you will see a gay, multicultural, artistic and scientific, loving, and creative person.

This portfolio is formatted as a website for a few reasons. I wanted to be able to separate each piece into its own page, with unique colors surrounding it. Due to my computer science background, this website was created with original code written 100% by me. This is a testament to my multifaceted identity. With over 1,000 lines of original code written for this project, I have accomplished something unique and special. This is an accurate representation of who I am, and I am so excited to be sharing it with the world.

I hope that you will see yourself in these pieces, and I hope that you will find a fuller understanding of human life and identity through reading my story.
